DDA Speak Out: Scott Dominguez

Scott Dominguez is a Deputy District Attorney with the Los Angeles County D.A.’s Office, who wants Nathan Hochman to replace our current failed L.A. County District Attorney George Gascon.

Scott talks about the dire straits we face in L.A. County because of Gascon’s disastrous leadership, “I grew up here in Los Angeles and being a prosecutor has always been my way of giving back to the community that I love and the residents that I work my hardest to protect. Many of D.A. Gascon’s pro-criminal and misguided policies have tied our hands as prosecutors, making it harder to keep you safe.”

The Assoc. of Deputy District Attorneys for Los Angeles, a union representing line prosecutors, said 97.9 percent of its members had voted to back an effort to oust Gascon from office. The D.A.’s office is short over 200 prosecutors, there is a backlog of over 10,000 cases, the morale is at an all-time low and Gascon’s failed social experiment policies have been challenged as unethical and illegal.

Gascon refuses to prosecute the most violent criminals and gang members using drug weight, gun and gang “enhancements” for sentencing. These sentencing enhancements allowed prosecutors for decades to add years onto a prison sentence if the crime was committed by a violent gang member, or a criminal with a gun or was trafficking large quantities of deadly drugs. This helped keep violent predators and drug traffickers off the streets of our community longer.

Scott reveals, “Under his Special Directives, even the most violent criminals are being returned to the streets after asking for and receiving light sentences that they now refer to as ‘Gascon Specials.’ When somebody robs a victim with a gun, and they get no prison time… that’s a Gascon Special!”

What we know now is that D.A. Gascon is not special. His policies have made our communities less safe.  We need to take D.D.A. Dominguez’ advice, “Enough is enough. We need to vote for Nathan Hochman to be our next Los Angeles County District Attorney. Gascon must go!”
